Writing well involves more than simply filling in boxes on graphic organizers. It’s a process that requires that the writer think critically about a number of important components. Teachers can help students become effective writers by teaching a variety of strategies for carrying out each component of the writing process and by supporting students in applying the strategies until they are able to do so independently. In this experiential session, participants will learn how to use the resources and tools they already have available to effectively teach the writing process.
